Understand the pressure environment of seals

It is helpful to consider the pressure environment of the application when starting to search for industrial seals. High pressure environment

Generally, softer materials such as silicone resin or universal nitrile with lower Shore A hardness are more suitable for low-pressure environments. These materials provide flexibility and reliable sealing with minimal force.  

Materials such as polyurethane or high hardness nitrile have a higher Shore A rating and are highly suitable for high-pressure applications due to their strength and resistance to deformation under high pressure.

Material properties such as hardness and compression set can help you determine the pressure resistance of the seal. Hardness is measured at Shore A level, indicating the material's ability to withstand physical stress without deformation. In other words, harder materials can maintain their shape and seal in high-pressure environments.  

The degree to which a compressed permanent deformation measurement material returns to its original thickness after compression. Low compression permanent deformation is very suitable for dynamic applications where seals are repeatedly compressed and released. This helps to maintain the effectiveness of the seal over time.

It is also important to consider the effects of temperature and chemical exposure on the selected materials. When subjected to high temperature and pressure, the material will soften and become more susceptible to compression. Similarly, exposure to certain chemicals can lead to material degradation, thereby altering its physical properties and performance.

By understanding the material properties and environmental conditions, you can make wiser decisions and choose effective materials that can maximize performance and durability.
